China actually built the Transit Elevated Bus

In May 2016, officials in China debuted a prototype for a bus that people could actually drive under. The goal was to reduce traffic jams by transporting more people without stopping other vehicles on the road from proceeding towards their destination.

We didn’t believe the Transit Elevated Bus would actually get made, but low and behold, it is now operating on real roads in Qinhuangdao, Hebei!

The idea was only proposed recently, at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo in May.

Developers Jinchuang Corp said they could have the bus ready by August, even though they only had a miniature model at the time.

The developers say it’ll only take a year to finish. And this time, we believe them.

China’s Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) was just a model in May.
