Hate Graffiti? Not if New Yorkers have anything to say about it.

Nazi symbolism will not be tolerated in New York City!

That’s the message dozens of Subway passengers sent this week when they swiftly removed a ton of

Having lived in NYC last year for work, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that New Yorkers are actually a surprisingly friendly bunch, despite the stigma placed on them in hard-talking Hollywood movies and TV shows.

If you want to see the true spirit of a New Yorker, keep reading the story below.

27-year-old Gregory Locke and 30 other passengers were the first to notice the hateful symbolism.

After Locke pointed out how disgusted he was with the graffiti, a fellow passenger said you can easily remove sharpie with hand sanitizer.

Passengers immediately reached into their purses and bags and pulled out plenty of Purell.

In no time at all the passengers completely cleaned up the swastikas.

Gregory was so impressed with the compassion of his fellow subway riders that he went on Facebook to praise their efforts.

“I’ve never seen so many people simultaneously reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purell. Within about two minutes, all the Nazi Symbolism was gone,” he wrote.

His post quickly went viral and almost all of the comments were positive.

While Gregory admits it’s not the first time he has seen swastikas inside a NYC subway car, it was the first time that so many people refused to let the messages live on.

Just look at how amazing these people were to jump in and help clean up the hate.

Here’s his full message — It’s worth a read.

Let’s Share Gregory’s story and stop the growing hate in America.
