There are a huge number of passionate pet communities out there. When dogs were being shamed for their mischievous behavior their owners were quick to shame them for it. Since the internet is a massive place, fish people are now hopping on the bandwagon and shaming their naughty fish. Or, should we say, swimming onto the bandboat in this case.
Please note that pets are like kids, so when they misbehave a lot of the time it’s because their owners are doing something wrong. Like many great supervillains, maybe these naughty fish are just misunderstood.
This Fish Who Watched SAW Too Many Times
There’s no way to prepare yourself for what this fish did because it’s so wild. Sure, we’ve heard of fish eating other fish in the tank and for the most part, it’s understandable because of limited space or territory issues. But to eat only a part of it and then save the rest for later? That’s straight out of a horror movie.
Hopefully, the aunt will have better luck with this little fish. All she needs to do is wean it off of the SAW and Scream and introduce it to a little Disney. May we recommend The Little Mermaid? Flounder would be a good influence.
Expensive New Toy? Let Me Just Ignore It Forever
Fish are apparently cats in disguise. Cat owners know that the minute you bring home that $30 new scratching post with the catnip features your pet is just going to ignore it in favor of the paper grocery store bag from last week. This fish can relate.
Look at how nice that wooden underwater tower is! This little fishy definitely isn’t appreciating its beauty and instead looks like it’s interested in the colorful tank floor. Can we really blame it though? Just look at that magenta pebble.
One More Serving Of Algae Please
Sometimes we all have a craving for a second helping of algae. After a long day at work you want to lay down on your pebbles, watch your fish shows, and snack on some algae. This fish might have taken this relaxation mood a little too far.
This fish decided that instead of sticking to its own snacks it would reach into its shrimp tankmate’s pantry stash and grab an algae wafer. Not cool man, the shrimp was really looking forward to that when it got home.
This Hunger Strike At The Worst Possible Time
Kids and pets know how to do one thing really well and that is choosing the worst moment in time to create a mess or situation that we have to deal with. This unappreciative fish was definitely waiting, watching, and learning his dad’s morning routine to choose the perfect time to strike. His diabolical plan went swimmingly.
This became a situation because you’re supposed to watch fish eat so that you can make sure the food isn’t sinking to the bottom. This coy little koi needs to stop toying with his fish-father.
Frank The Fish Needs To Recognize His Friends
Frank apparently never heard the saying “never bite the hand that feeds you” because he’s out here doing just that. To be fair though, fish don’t speak English and can’t really understand our sayings. But still, that’s not nice Frank.
How is Frank biting his owner’s hand? Couldn’t his owner just drop in the food and not touch the water. Though, maybe Frank is some kind of super fish that can jump really high. Frank, tell us your secrets and what kind of stretches you do.
Normally We All Love A Cheap Date
This fish pretty much feels how all of us feel walking into an organic, ethically sourced, sustainable, artisan grocery store — we don’t know what half the stuff means and we don’t want to spend the extra money to find out. This fish put the gluten-free heirloom tomato essence puree back on the shelf and reached for the Prego.
Maybe the reason the fish isn’t eating the food is that the gummy bears are too big. Fish have tiny stomachs that can really only handle a couple of tiny pellets. That or the fish is a cheap date.
The Plants Didn’t Go With The Space According To This Interior Decorator
Sometimes the plants just don’t go with the overall decor of the place. We’ve all had this issue when decorating and usually we just return them, try different ones, and then eventually give up and buy the dollar store roses because all the palms at the garden center are starting to look the same. This fish gets that struggle.
Instead of giving them a fair chance, this fish decided to overreact and pull the plants their owner gets for it. This fish-parent probably put them in a sport that didn’t work with the “fish shui.”
This Is A Warning For All Other Angel Fish
Don’t say he didn’t warn you. This rebel angelfish made it loud and clear that he’ll be having no other angelfish step into his turf anytime soon or there is going to be an issue. He doesn’t care if your cousin lives here, he wants you off the block before you swim with the other fish.
Look at how he’s on the lookout for any other angelfish that might be in the area. If there’s one in the tank across the room you know he’ll be playing his music loud late at night and stealing their mail. That’s just how it is.
This Fish Thinks “Burning” Is A Comfortable Body Temperature
Marilyn knows some like it hot. There are the people in the summer wearing sweaters and turning down the air conditioning when the outside world is on fire. This fish is one of those people and it won’t stop, even if it spells the end of their fish life.
This little swimmer would probably get along with those women who love to turn the shower to the hottest possible temperature. For everyone’s sake, we hope this fish never gets so hot that it actually cooks.
Playing Water Opossum
Anyone who’s ever owned a fish knows the mini heat attack feeling we get when it’s been hanging out at the bottom of the tank not swimming and not responding to our wiggling fingers. Nine times out of ten, it’s sleeping and it perks up after a few seconds, but sometimes…
Who knew fish could even play opossum? Shame on this fish for discovering a new skill and scaring the living daylights out of its parent. Look at that face, it doesn’t even look remorseful at all.
This Fish Ate His Friends Then Built A House And A Vacation Home
Ziggy the betta fish decided that it needed to overhaul its life one day. He was sick of the fake friends he had and the tiny little corner of the tank he was paying too much to rent. So he turned his life around…and his friend’s too.
Fish eat fish sometimes, it happens a lot. But building two bubble nest homes in opposite corners of the tank to celebrate is definitely out of the ordinary. Ziggy, we’re glad you’re happy with your new life, but now you’ve got nobody to invite to your house-warming parties.
Throw ‘Em In The Tank
This little rule-breaker got thrown into the solitary confinement tank for something she definitely didn’t do. Maybe she got in with the wrong crowd or stole one-too-many food pellets than was her share in the mess hall. Either way, she’s locked up in solitary now, forced to think over her choices.
Hopefully, this girl doesn’t start filing one of those colorful rocks into a knife or a lockpick. Word on the street is that you can get through any PetSmart glass wall with those green ones.
This Shame Just Hit All Fish
This fish dad didn’t pull any punches when he decided to join the fish shaming. Instead of looking at only his fish, he decided to take aim at the fish world at large. The results are pretty hilarious.
To be fair, if fish wanted to shame us back they could easily say we walk around in our own flatulence and burps and that’s just as gross. So let’s not wage war on all fish because this is an insult battle that could get pretty ugly.
Territorial With Food Or Territorial With Kids?
This is a case of a fish who doesn’t quite know what it wants. It’s been tasked with choosing between having a bunch of little fish babies or getting some much-needed sustenance into its body. It looked at its wallet and chose food.
This fish’s tankmates were probably pretty alarmed by its change of heart. They were also probably pretty jealous and upset since they wanted the eggs all along. Come on, sharing is caring.
Here’s Some More Interesting Fish Parenting Methods
Fish are maybe notoriously not the greatest caregivers — we only say that because they sometimes eat their kids. Only sometimes though. As long as they’re addressing the issue, talking about their actions, and trying to change we can’t really fault them for it.
These two are the Bonnie and Clyde of the fish world — they’re doing crazy stuff but it’s all okay as long as they have each other. Look at those steely gazes looking right into the lens as their mom takes their mugshots, they’re tough customers.
Here’s Another Horror Movie Fan
This fish joins our list of little rebels who don’t exactly get along with their tankmates. After looking at all of these, maybe we should consider getting these fish to take a compatibility test before dumping them all together and letting tensions fly. These tank stories sound eerily like Lord of the Flies.
In this case, you’re looking at the lord of the fish. Though, there’s not really anybody left to be a lord over. Oh well, this little guy can just read the books behind him and wait for his owner to get new victims and tankmates for him.
Here’s Another Fish That Doesn’t Play Well With Others
Eating tankmates is an unfortunate theme in the fish world — it’s common in the wild as well. It’s usually not the fish’s fault though, before shaming the fish we should think of the ways we can avoid this situation. Do they sell little fish muzzles?
Look at the big glassy eye of a fish that just doesn’t care about the crime it did. This one thought about the crime long and hard before it acted – maybe its favorite food pellets kept being eaten by its tankmates.
This Fish Tried To Eat What Animal?!
This is a case of the fish’s eyes being too big for its stomach. When a bat fell into Sharkie the koi’s pond, Sharkie decided the best course of action was to roll up its fish sleeves, get out its lobster bib, and dig into the food that fell from the sky.
Honestly, if someone hands you a free meal you take it. We’ve all used coupons for much less at the grocery store. Sharkie’s just being economical. Hopefully, it brought some Tupperware for leftovers.
This Fish Needs Glasses
We all remember the moment when we realized we should get some glasses. Maybe you were driving and couldn’t see road signs, sitting in class and couldn’t read the board, or having trouble reading. You probably weren’t trying to eat your own fecal matter like this fish.
This fish Taako probably realized he needed to take a trip to the eye doctor when he mistook his own waste for food pellets during a water change and tried to eat it. Or maybe it was on purpose. We just hope that’s not the case.
This Koi Has An Offbeat Name And An Offbeat Taste In Snacks
This is a case of living up to your given name. We all know the golden rule that we should never name our pets after people, places, or things we don’t want them to act like. This pet owner, unfortunately, forgot that when they decided to name their fish “Edward Scissormouth.”
Edward lives up to his accident-prone and destructive name because he eats the lily pads much to his parents’ frustration. They shouldn’t be surprised since he’s just acting out the hedge cutting scene from the movie.
