These Pet Owners Used Glass Distortion To Make Their Animals Look Hilarious

Being stuck at home is much easier when you have a pet by your side. Still, pet owners need to get creative after a while to keep themselves and their furry friends entertained. That’s what led these people to use glass to make their pets look silly. From shrunken heads to giant googly eyes, these distorted images might make you spit out whatever you were drinking. Read on for hilarious pet photos that will make you feel like you’ve gone “through the looking glass.”

Do These Glasses Make Me Look Fat?

This pet owner used their glasses to give the illusion that their cat has a tiny head. Being that the feline is laying on the floor, we have a full view of its plump body stretched out on the tile.

The contrast between the large body and the tiny head is what makes this photo such a gem. It’s like the laser from Honey, I Shrink The Kids zapped the cat but only impacted its head!

Stuck Under A Glass Ceiling

This cat appears to have lost its nose beneath the rim of a wine glass stem. Though its eyes remained about the same size, the shine of the glass make it look like the cat has watery eyes.

The image reminds us of the term “glass ceiling.” Though its metaphorical meaning refers to an invisible barrier that limits upward mobility, this image showcases the term in a hilariously literal sense. Don’t let the man keep you down, kitty!

You “Cat” See Me

This image reminds us of playing hide-and-go-seek with a little kid. The cat may think it’s hidden, but it doesn’t realize that a clear water tank is just as see-through to us as it is to them.

The best part is how much the clear container magnifies the cat’s face. It has the exact opposite effect of making the pet more obscure! By stretching out its features, the “hiding place” makes it so you can’t miss the clueless feline.

Why The Long Face?

First of all, how cute is it that this pooch is sitting across the dining room table from its owner? It’s like they were on a little dinner date when the owner looked up and noticed how hilarious their dog looked through the tall glass.

The canine’s features somehow got all squeezed together so that its eyes droop down on the sides. It looks like a cartoon version of the actual dog with its floofy fur and tiny eyes.

Those Poor Goldfish

This cat must have scared the living daylights out of those goldfish when it decided to place its face up to the glass. It looks like the cat is a giant monster invading their little fish town.

To be fair, we can’t say for sure that the goldfish see the cat the same way we do. They are looking through one layer of glass, while we’re looking through two. Regardless, it can’t be fun to be a fish with a feline sitting that close by.

Don’t Mess With This Cat

It’s no secret that cats can be a little… full of attitude. Let’s just say that you don’t want to get on their bad side. This pet owner managed to catch the moment their cat got fed up and illuminated it with a magnifying glass.

If your cat has ever brought home a “present,” now you know what that poor creature saw the moment before it was too late. Who says there’s no such thing as a guard cat?

The Tiny Cat Face

If you have ever missed how tiny and adorable your cat was when they were just a kitten, then this glass trick may be the solution! By placing a pair of glasses at the right angle, this pet owner brought back the itty bitty face that their cat once had.

It is as though they took a photo of the feline when it was just a baby and photoshopped it onto the cat’s fully-grown body.

Flying To The Rescue

This parrot is standing behind a glass of water at such a perfect angle that it looks as though it’s stuck inside it! The illusion is so convincing that the pet’s bird sibling flew to the rescue!

The fellow parrot is sitting on top of the glass rim as though to observe what’s going on. We’re not sure if it’s figured out yet that its fellow parrot is not in fact drowning, but is merely standing on the table.

The Wide-Eyed Cat

This pet owner held up a pair of glasses at just the right angle so that it looks like their cat is wearing them over a pair of extremely wide-set eyes. The amazing thing is that the cat’s head doesn’t look much bigger under the glass distortion.

Still, its eyes have somehow managed to morph so that they look like they’ve moved to either side of the feline’s face. But hey, at least the cat looks smart.

The Glass Is Half Full… Of Cat

They say that you can choose to see a glass half empty or half full. In this case, the glass is half empty and the other half is full of cat. The pet’s face appears to be stuck in the water.

Of course, the cat’s owner is merely holding the water glass in front of the pet as it lounges on its back with its paws up. Little does the feline know that one of its eyes is full of air bubbles and its nose looks two sizes too big.

What Are You Looking At?

This cat’s eyes look like something out of the movie The Mask. The magnifying glass is angled in such a way that the feline’s face has become stretched upwards, making it look like a cartoon character.

The adorable pet seems to be oblivious to this effect as it mindlessly chews on the bottom of the magnifying glass. We have to wonder what the cat was seeing as it looked through the other end of the glass.

It’s Abstract Art

This glass morphed the cat on the other side so much that we can’t even tell what’s going on in this photo. You can barely see the outline of the glass container at the top of the image, so it’s hard to make out what it is.

If it weren’t for that small bit that you can make out, we would think that distortion was a product of a camera effect, not glass. The result is an image that would probably sell for millions in a modern art gallery somewhere.

Help! I’m Stuck In A Glass!

This cat proves that even animals can have a sense of humor. How else would it have known to make a silly face while its owner held up a glass of water? By the looks of it, the cat is feigning fear because it knows it appears to be trapped.

Realistically, the photo was probably just timed exceptionally well. We don’t expect a house pet to understand human humor, but we also wouldn’t put it past them if they did.

He’s A Little Big-Headed

This feline has a skeptical look on its face as it gazes at its owner through a glass. It’s as if the cat thinks it’s hidden and is spying on someone. Then again, we probably just think that because of the way the glass morphed the animal’s face.

The cat’s features are smooshed down so that it appears to have furrowed brows. To top it off, its forehead looks extra long as though the cat is an evil genius with a massive brain.

The Magnified Glare

This bird looks like it’s glaring at its owner while being trapped in a water bottle. The facial expression is how we imagine a genie in a bottle would look if we could see their face.

What’s odd is the way the bottle reflects the bird’s face, creating a mirror image that makes it look like the bird has a second beak coming out of its head. In this case, the water and the bottle are working together to distort the image.

That Big Ol’ Smile

Any dog owner will tell you that there’s nothing like waking up to a big smile from your furry friend in the morning. This magnifying glass takes that beloved smile to a whole new level.

The canine’s snout looks enormous behind the magnifying glass and its floppy tongue appears to be licking it. Though some might find the inside of a dog’s mouth to be gross, we’re sure this pet owner found this closeup to be positively adorable.

Going Cross-Eyed

This cat goes to show that animals wouldn’t do well with glasses. Even though the pair of glasses are pressed right up to its face, they’ve somehow caused the feline’s eyes to morph hilariously.

One eye looks higher than the other and they both appear to be about four times too big. Still, there’s something adorable about this cat’s near-crosseyed look. It reminds us of a little kid who’s trying one glasses for the first time.

Top-Heavy

This bird looks like it got body-swapped with another. Though the magnifying glass enlarged the pet’s head, it didn’t morph it. As a result, the bird would look perfectly normal if we didn’t have its body as a frame of reference.

Since you can see its itty bitty body below the magnifying glass, it looks like the bird is too top-heavy for its little feet to handle. Fortunately, it’s just a silly illusion brought on by its owner.

Under Close Investigation

This owner managed to line up the magnifying glass perfectly so that their cat’s face becomes a perfect circle. The best part is how tiny the cat’s ears look popping out of its giant head.

We love the serious expression on the pet’s face, as though it believes that this process is no laughing matter. If the eyes are the window to the soul then this cat’s innermost self is not the kind to mess around.

Can You Spot Its Second Nose?

glass-distortion-8
FloofBagel/Reddit

The pair of glasses that this cat owner is holding up distorts their feline’s face so much that it almost looks like a different animal. There’s something about those wideset eyes that reminds us of a llama.

If you look closely, though, you can see what the cat’s actual face looks like. In the right lens, there appears to be a second nose. From there, you can see the real distance between its nose and one of its eyes, but that takes all the fun out of the illusion.
