Crested Butte, Colorado
If you like your flowers as wild as your spirit, then Crusted Butte is the place for you. Hailed as the “Wildflower Capital of Colorado,” the picturesque mountain views littered with flowers and green grass attract visitors from all over the world. First blooming in spring, the blue columbines, red Indian paintbrushes, yellow sunflowers and purple delphiniums just get better as the year progresses. The nearby National Forests (Uncompahgre, Rio Grande, and San Juan to name a few) have more trails that lead to some of the best meadow views in the whole of the U.S. In early July, Crested Butte even holds a weeklong wildflower festival to pay homage to its “grassroots.”
