If you have a dog, you know how daunting it can be to try and clip their nails. Every dog has its weakness, and it’s usually food. You’ve used a piece of popcorn to convince your dog to drop the cell phone they stole from your desk, and we’ve all left a trail of breadcrumbs to the shower for their yearly bath.
Well, one woman decided that she needed to use these same tricks when trying to clip her dog’s toenails, and filmed the experience on TikTok, where it quickly went viral.
There’s A Bit Of Prep Work Involved
Lindsey Shelton is a 27-year-old California native who, like the rest of us, is trying to make due with life living in quarantine. Along with taking care of herself, she has to take care of her dog Schmidt, which means she has to trim Schmidt’s nails herself.
Make Sure To Wear The Right Gear
Ok, so wrapping the top of your head (please don’t get it anywhere near your mouth) seems like a weird way to start a tutorial for clipping your dog’s nails, but it all makes sense in the end.
What Dog Doesn’t Like Peanut Butter?
Lindsey quickly pointed out that when you’re grabbing peanut butter, make sure it doesn’t have xylitol in it. Xylitol is a sugar alternative, but it’s toxic to dogs. So please make sure your peanut butter is xylitol-free.
So That’s What The Saran Wrap Is For
Ok, so now we know why you need the saran wrap to keep the peanut butter off your forehead and out of your hair. But what’s the plan here? It’s actually pretty simple.
Her Boyfriend Was Beyond Confused
As Lindsey captured the video of her nail-clipping hack, her husband could be found in the background looking on in confusion. Clearly this was all news to him as well, but he appears supportive… right?
That’s A Good Dog
Now that the peanut butter is secure and Lindsey has her nail clippers in hand, all she needed was her dog. It took a bit of work to get Schmidt to understand just what was going on, but once he did, it immediately paid off.
Time To Get Clipping
Not surprisingly, once Schmidt noticed the peanut butter and got licking, he immediately forgot all about the nail clippers. So the next time you have to clip your dogs nails, maybe give this hack a try. Just make sure you have all the right products.
