One of the things they don’t tell you when you become a parent is that you’ll suddenly become fluent in gibberish. One father from Clarkesville, Tennesse has become a master at it.
Shanieke Pryor shared a viral video of her husband Deztin (DJ) and their 19-month-old son Kingston “talking” together and the internet couldn’t help but fall in love and praise the adorable father-son duo. Check out their incredible “conversation” and see just how important being fluent in gibberish is.
Kingston’s Mother Shared A Incredible Video Of The Two Talking
Shanieke shared a short 1:24 clip on her Facebook page of DJ and Kingston sharing what appeared to be a full-fledged conversation. The couple had just finished watching an episode of the television show Empire, and DJ said he noticed that Kingston seemed enthralled by the show.
DJ decided to ask Kingston his thoughts on the episode and it resulted in an entire “conversation” between the two about what was going to happen next episode.
Dj And Kingston Share A Special Bond
It was obvious by the video that DJ and Kingston share a tight bond with each other. Even though they can’t understand the words the other is saying, the video shows the pair laughing, joking, and exchanging emotions with each other.
At one point in the video, DJ even jokes to Kingston and asks “Did you understand it though?” and the baby appears to show through his gestures that he didn’t understand the Empire episode at all.
This Isn’t New For Many Parents Out There
Moms and dads out there have an incredible ability to (slightly) understand what their child is saying even when it sounds like “blahblahblah” to anyone else. Your kid could be speaking gibberish but you know that they’re just asking for a snack.
That’s because parents can read gestures and emotions and help children develop the language skills around that. DJ was simply filling in the blanks with what he thought Kingston was saying just by going off his emotions and gestures.
Child Psychologists Have Praised DJ
For DJ, conversations with Kingston are all fun and games. The aspiring stand-up comedian even wants to use it as part of his set. While it might not seem like a big deal for DJ, child psychologists responded to the video and praised his tactics.
One internet user even said that DJ should get credit for “responding with perfect sensitivity and body language mirroring to the baby.” Many shared that the best thing to help develop language skills with babies is to repeat their actions and then add to what the say and do.
The Viral Video Even Landed The Pair A Denny’s Commercial
The video went so viral that DJ and Kingston even managed to wind up in a Father’s Day commercial for the breakfast joint Denny’s. The restaurant posted a video to their Twitter account of DJ and Kingston sharing breakfast in a Denny’s booth and talking about everything from life to pancakes, and of course, bacon.
The commercial ended with a touching note about father-son bonding. Whether it’s in a Denny’s booth or on the couch watching Empire, the special bond between DJ and Kingston is something pretty special.
