It was 1989 when Florida natives Nathan and Betty Mae Figgers found a little boy nestled up by a dumpster. They took him home, named him Freddie, and adopted him, having no clue about the amazingly brilliant man he would grow up to become after finding a passion early in life.

It All Started With An Adoption

Nathan and Betty Mae Figgers did not have children of their own. They’d fostered many kids throughout the years but never adopted. That all changed in 1989 when they decided to adopt a baby boy.

When Nathan and Betty Mae found the child, he was two days old. They named him Freddie.
