Siberian tigers are facing extinction, but one conservation society aims to help. The Center for Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals (PRNCO Tiger Center) has done some great work helping save Russian tigers. Most recently, they helped release Filippa back into the Russian wilderness after two years of treatment.
Filippa was found emaciated after being abandoned by her mother (who was most likely killed by poachers). National Park Staff delivered her to the rehab center which is also known as the “Amur Tiger Center” where they taught her to become a clever and experienced hunter while nursing her back to health. She’s been fitted with a GPS satellite tracking collar so her adjustment into the wild can be monitored.
