The Poignant President

This touching moment between a young boy and Obama is one of his most memorable interactions with kids throughout his eight years in office. The young boy is named Jacob Philadelphia. His father worked on the National Security Council and was departing after working there for two years so the family father asked to have their photo taken with the President. Jacob had a question for the President but his parents didn’t know what he would ask. He said quietly, “I want to know if my hair is just like yours,” he told Mr. Obama, so quietly that the president asked him to speak again. President Obama responded, “Why don’t you touch it and see for yourself?” The President actually lowered his head down and let the young boy touch his hair. And then, “So, what do you think?” The boy replied, “Yes, it does feel the same.” Truly a moment to remember what the presidency meant to so many young men and women across the United States, especially within the African American community. Such a beautiful moment!
