God Gave Tyler, 11, A Daddy
In July 2017, an 11-year-old boy named Tyler surprised his stepdad, Don Gause, by asking him to adopt him. At first, Don thought someone in the family was having a baby. Tyler’s mother, Marcia Gause, told the Daily Mail: “Tyler was one and a half when Don came into his life, they have always had the relationship of father and son. Don had no idea what was going on – we wanted to do it as if it was a baby shower because he always says I wish I could have been there when you had my son…[Tyler] is very wise for such a young person and has said before that God sent him the Daddy that was really meant for him.”
Unwavering Bond
When a woman named Susan was a little girl, her mother introduced her and her sister to her boyfriend (who would later become her stepfather). Susan was very skeptical of the man, and she needed to be convinced that he would stick around and take care of her family. They lived on a farm, and he would make sure she got the bus to volleyball practice. He attended nearly every game, concert, and play. He put her to work on their farm and taught her to drive. He helped Susan get through a divorce and has an “unwavering” bond with his granddaughter, even though they are not biologically related. Susan says he is not her “step-father,” he is her “dad.”
