According to PBS, bears are known to have an incredibly detailed understanding of their surroundings. This gives them a helpful map of potential food sources and helps them plan their escape when they know human hunters are around. Grizzly bears, in particular, are known to cover their tracks and hide behind trees and rocks during hunting season.
