Pigs Are Smarter Than Dogs

Although some people would never guess, pigs are incredibly intelligent animals. They have the ability to display a wide range of emotions, use critical thinking to solve problems, and even have individual personalities. In the essay “Thinking Pigs,” it is explained that “[p]igs display consistent behavioral and emotional characteristics that have been described variously as personality. e.g., coping styles, response types, temperament, and behavioral tendencies.”
Other research has shown that pigs have cognitive capacities that are either equal or superior to animals with similar intelligence such as dogs, chimps, and even humans. Most of this information remains relatively unknown because people don’t like to think that their food is actually highly intelligent.
