These Photos Of Dogs Catching Treats Are Pawsitively Hilarious

The project began almost as an accident. Vieler was working as a portrait photographer since 2013 and bought a new portable flash which allowed his camera to work with a 1/8000th of a second shutter speed.

He tested out the new flash with his own dog, Lotte, and started throwing treats for fun. Vieler told CNN that when he went back to the hard drive a few days later, he realized just "how funny the shots were."

The hilarious photos of his own dog led Vieler to put out a call for more dog models. He says the best part of his job is that the "cutest models" search out him and that he gets to work with dogs every day. It sounds like a dream.

Every once in a while Vieler will go to find the perfect four-legged friend if he has something specific in mind, like his mini photo series "Puppies Catching Treats."

Vieler says that most of the dogs seem to love the photoshoots and seriously, why wouldn't they? The photographer says that he only uses the yummiest treats and that the dogs are just "really excited about the fact that someone gave them treats...and they didn't have to do anything for it."

Of course, there are a few dogs who don't like the photoshoots. Vieler said that some dogs who are easily scared don't like the photoshoots but that he never forces a dog into a situation.

There seems to be a certain magic behind these photos and even Vieler admits that at first, he didn't understand it. He just thought the photos were funny but has grown to see them in a different way.

Vieler thinks the mass appeal of these hilarious photos is that they let us see dogs in a new light. He thinks the dogs' expressions remind us of our own feelings of "desire, loss, pain, or joy."
